Thinking Big is a Scam

I grew up reading books, business and personal development books. They've been my best friend for a mighty long time. Most of these, unsurprisingly, are by American authors. They're the kings of this think big and you'll achieve big framing. Even the current American president, Donald Trump, has a book entitled Think Big (Seems to have worked quite well for him, though).

For the longest time I took their words at face value, believing that since they had built such massive empires, they had to be right. Now I'm not saying they're wrong. I'm saying the American context is different to the south African context. Their business environment is different to ours. But we don't always remember that. We do exactly as they say, and when we don't get the required results, we start to blame ourselves, and that's a mistake.

It's all good and well to be inspired, just as long as we remember to be practical in our planning and application. Take whatever advice you receive from these folks, infuse it with the context of your own environment and then proceed from there.
