Rich people associate with positive, successful people. poor people associate with negative, unsuccessful people

If you want to achieve a result, you have to study and model the people who've achieved said result. Invite them for coffee if you can. Join their coaching programs, mastermind groups, etc. Tony Robbins says that proximity is power. When you associate with happy, positive, successful people, it will rub off on you. How do you expect to learn how rich people think, and what they do, if you don't spend time with them?

All of life is based on value exchange

Money itself is a medium of value exchange. The more valuable you are, the more people will scramble to have you on their team. The question is, what do you bring to the table? What's the benefit to them of associating with you? What value can you share with them for their time?  Success leaves clues. And if you associate with people who've walked the path before, do you think they could show you how to succeed as well?

BECOME A PERSON OF VALUE!

Jim Rohn says that you are the average

of the 5 people you spend the most time with.


He says to ask:
Who do I spend time with?
What have they got me doing?
Where have they got me going?
What have they got me reading?
Who do they have me becoming?

How many rich friends do you have?

Do you like the direction you're headed? If so, keep going.

If not, start making new friends. Start making new decisions.

Harv reminds us that nothing has meaning except the meaning we give it.  He stresses that energy is contagious. Either you affect people positively or you infect them negatively. And vice versa, either they affect you positively or infect you negatively. Make your choice. Who do you want to be and how do you want to influence the people around you? And also, how do you want them to influence you?

Now the tricky part is, you're trying to upgrade your circle, while they're also trying to upgrade their circle. So what value will they get from you so they also benefit from associating with you?

Remember, it's not what you know,

it's who you know

When I started varsity, one of my tutors told me, "It's not about the grades you make. It's about the hands you shake." Meaning, your class mates or school mates will go on to big companies or fast-growing startups. If those people know you and appreciate your value, then you will never struggle to find a job in whatever industry you choose. In fact, they will be clamoring for your signature.
