AIDAS to Satisfy Your Customers’ Desires

As you may well know, AIDAS stands for Attention (awareness) - Interest - Desire - Action - Satisfaction.

Attention

The whole point of business is to solve clients’ problems in exchange for financial consideration, some prefer to call it money. And  the whole point of a marketing campaign is to grab the potential client’s attention, and guide them along the buying journey until their need is met or their problem is solved.  The method you use to gain the customers attention must be results-oriented.  You can target different problems and issues faced by the customer, and talk directly to the pain caused by this problem.  Remind the customer that you understand exactly what they’re battling against. Convey benefits instead of features.   Make a compelling first impression either with an exciting visual, or a big claim, or a hearty promise.  Make customers fall in love with you, put their mind at ease so you can build rapport. Grab their attention so you can build interest.

Interest

Your messages must be interesting and friendly. Your audience will decide in the first few seconds whether to continue exploring more or whether to just forget about you.  Capture their contact details so that you can engage with them and remind them about your business, your products and your services and how valuable you can be to them and their needs.   People transact with people they like.  Keep prospects engaged. Ask quality questions.  Be interested in your customers and their problems, challenges, or even opportunities that you can help them capture.  This will allow you to formulate solutions that will be relevant and meaningful to them. If your clients don’t see how you can be useful to them, they won’t be interested in anything you have to say.

Desire

To stoke a potential client’s desire, you must share the outcomes that your customers will experience by using your product. What is the benefit they will enjoy by working with you? Make it hard for them to imagine life without you or your product.  Paint a compelling picture.  Create a fascinating story, outlining the benefits that will be enjoyed by customers when they do business with you.  Use visually appealing language and visuals.  Get your customers’ emotions involved a bit. Make them dream about, and drool over your product. Sell the sizzle, not the steak. But also make sure the steak is of the best quality.

Action

Tell you r clients what to do if they want your product or service. Include a call to action in your marketing material. Do you want them to buy on the spot? Should they join a membership program? Should they take out a free trial? What action do you expect from them as a result of your proposal or offering?  Offering incentives to potential clients usually works well, especially online.  Induce you customers to take action.  Be affirmative, but not pushy.  Be subtle, but not weak.  Find common ground that is comfortable for you and for the customer.  Invite them in with finesse and subtlety. Don't   drag or coerce them into taking action. If you do that, you will only be creating resentment. You can’t build a business on resentment. Business is built on delight and satisfaction.

Satisfaction

Don’t make big-mouth promises that you can’t fulfil.  If possible, exceed your promises.  Your customers will be glad they chose you over your competition, and you will be thankful you went the extra mile to satisfy your clientele.

The quality of service needs to reassure the customer that he has made the right decision by buying from you, and that your product is worthy of his time, money and loyalty. If your clients are not happy with your product or service they will not come back, and they will definitely not recommend you to their friends and colleagues. You want to make sure you delight your customers so the spread the word about you in their circles of influence.
